Only this time, the save went to Braiden Sunshine, who performed “Harder to Breathe” for his save-me performance.
And in what appeared to be the season’s closest instant save vote yet, he advanced to the Top 9 over teammate Korin Bukowski, who was eliminated from the show.
Korin had been saved the previous two weeks, but struggled controlling her emotions during her save-me performance of “Try.”
She dropped lyrics on at least two occasions, yet got glowing feedback from the coaches for her bravery in completing the song and for her past performances on the show.
Braiden, just 15 when he auditioned, had no such problems when he took the stage. Not surprisingly, Adam Levine complimented the teenager on his taste in music.
The week before, Korin had earned her save singing Maroon 5’s “She Will Be Loved.”
Braiden completed a Top 9 that also includes teammate Jeffery Austin and Team Pharrell’s Madi Davis. All three finalists on Team Adam — Jordan Smith, Amy Vachal and Shelby Brown — and Team Blake — Barrett Baber, Emily Ann Roberts and Zach Seabaugh — are still in the competition.
Those nine singers will perform Monday night with four spots in the Season 9 finals on the line. That means five singers will be eliminated next week.
