The soundtrack for two of the first three Family Movie Night films have featured songs by Brooke White.

The fourth film in the series will star Brooke White.

That’s right, Idol fans, the season seven contestant is one of the stars of a movie called “Change of Plans,” to be broadcast at 8  p.m. Saturday on FOX.

Brooke’s character shouldn’t be too much of a stretch. She plays “a free-spirited, kind-hearted guitar player” who’s married and pursuing a music career.

The twist to this tale: A best friend serving in the Peace Corps dies.

So Brooke and her husband suddenly find themselves raising her four children, three of whom have been adopted from third-world countries.

Here’s what Brooke has to say about the role: “I never expected that I would be acting; talk about a change of plans.

“I love this story because it is emotionally-driven, yet light-hearted and fun. It also shows us that the family comes in all shapes and sizes. And reminds us that sometimes life doesn’t turn out the way we planned, but it can be even better.”

According to the Family Movie Night website, the soundtrack will feature four Brooke White originals. Typically, the DVD and soundtrack from the movie have been available as a package deal at Walmart (and Walmart only) almost immediately after the movie airs.

Randy Jackson has a cameo and the film also stars Phylicia Rashad (Clair Huxtable from “The Cosby Show”).

Count me among the Idol fans who will be watching.

Brooke is one of my all-time favorite past Idol contestants and I rank her post-Idol album, “High Hopes & Heartbreak,” among the most underrated and underappreciated Idol CD releases.
