This year will be no exception. The list of performers announced Tuesday includes former American Idol runner-up Lauren Alaina.
But with pandemic still affecting large gatherings, this year’s performances won’t be live. They’ll be pre-taped and aired as part of a 90-minute July 4 celebration.
One part that still will be filmed live: the fireworks show over Washington, D.C., that wraps up the event.
“A Capitol Fourth” will begin at 8 p.m. eastern time on PBS stations. It will also be streamed live on Facebook, YouTube and the PBS website.
Other performers include Patti LaBelle, John Fogerty, Trace Adkins, Andy Grammer, Yolanda Adams and The Temptations, who are celebrating their 60th anniversary.
Meanwhile, Lauren will be part of two other special events coming up — the livestream Concert for Love and Acceptance on Tuesday, June 30; and the CMA Best of Fest, set to air Thursday, July 9, at 8 p.m. on ABC. The event will also feature Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton and Keith Urban.
Lauren released a new EP, “Getting Good,” earlier this year and will drop a duet with Chris Young, “Town Ain’t Big Enough,” on July 19.
