Carrie Underwood’s uplifting new song “The Champion” now has an uplifting video to match.
And though the song was originally crafted for use in conjunction with NBC’s coverage of this year’s Super Bowl, the video encompasses champions from all walks of life — educators to astronauts, soldiers to disable athletes, civil rights proponents to members of the Me Too movement.
You’ll even catch a glimpse of Carrie walking into the American Idol audition room back in the summer of 2004.
And, of course, the video also features Ludacris, who provides the effective rap interlude during the second half of the song.
My only surprise is that “The Champion” hasn’t done better on the Billboard charts.
The song soared to number one on iTunes when it was released, but peeked at number 47 on the Billboard Hot 100 and isn’t registering on that chart now.
The song also reached number 57 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart.
Here’s the music video.
