Cecil Ray performing on Top 24 night on American Idol Season 19
And not in a good way.
Police in Rockland, Texas, say Cecil Ray Baker — his full name — was arrested Friday on a charge of burglary of a habitation.
The 20-year-old was arrested at about 3:30 p.m. Friday and released about an hour later on $15,000 bond.
The arrest occurred on the same day Mariah Lopez, the mother of his young daughter, posted a TikTok video accusing him of abusing her and cheating on her.
In the caption, she also says Cecil denied her daughter was his at one point.
Cecil’s desire to give that daughter a better life was the biggest part of his Idol back story.
But the young country singer was clearly unprepared to handle Idol’s big stage, struggled on Top 24 week and was eliminated from the show.
Cecil has yet to comment on the incident on social media.
His latest Instagram post reads: “My American Idol journey may have came to an end. But I couldn’t be more grateful for the path I’m on now thanks to everyone that believed in me!
“My Idol experience was life changing and I’ll never forget the memories and friends made.. Thank you all, I can’t wait to share my creativity with the world.”
