And while the song opens with the line “I miss David Bowie, I miss Prince,” it’s not as much a song about Bowie as a song in which the singer is yearning for the past.
“This song, it’s not about being in love — but it could be. Or, it could just be about having someone in your life that means so much to you and then losing them and the effect of that,” Chloe told Refinery29.
About a year and a half after winning Season 13 of The Voice as Chloe Kohanski, Chloe MK released her six-song EP “Fantasy” on Republic Records in July.
“David Bowie” has racked up more than 130,000 plays on Spotify since, second only to “To Be Young,” the EPs lead single.
Now, about that name change?
Here’s what Chloe told Affinity Magazine earlier this month.
“I think it was less about a name change and just more of a fresh start. I’ve always liked my name. Chloe MK feels a little more modern and somewhat digital … and it has a little ring to it which I love. It’s something that allows me to have a ‘persona.'”
Here’s the “David Bowie” music video.
