The release of what should be the most anticipated American Idol album from season nine is less than a week away.

Crystal Bowersox — this year’s should-have-been winner — fulfills a dream Tuesday with the release of Farmer’s Daughter, an album made up mostly of songs she wrote or co-wrote.

The title track, of course, is a Crystal original. And if you pre-order the album through iTunes, you can apparently choose between two versions of the song.

There’s the original lyrics, with a few well-placed expletives for emphasis. Then there’s the scrubbed, PG-rated version I’m sure you’ll find in stores like Walmart.

Meanwhile, if you want to catch Crystal performing on TV, there will be plenty of options in the coming week. The include the following:

Friday:  The Tonight Show With Jay Leno

Monday: Live With Regis & Kelly

Thursday, Dec. 16: The Ellen DeGeneres Show

Wednesday, Dec. 22: Chelsea Lately

Here’s hoping the music-buying public gives Crystal a listen.

She very well could be the best singer-songwriter to come our way courtesy of Idol.

And fans can listen to the album, right now, free of charge. AOL music is streaming Crystal’s CD for anyone who wants to listen. Just go here.
