After American Idol

David Cook releases a wicked cover of ‘Wicked Game’

countdown is on for David Cook fans.

In less than two weeks — Sept. 18 — the Season 7 American Idol winner will drop his long-awaited new album, “Digital Vein.”

In the meantime, he keeps teasing us, track by track.

His most recent release from the album is a superb cover of Chris Isaak’s “wicked Game.” It’s one of the best covers of that oft-covered song that I’ve heard.

Just listen to David’s voice on that opening.

This makes three songs off the 15-track deluxe version of the album that are now available through iTunes, with “Criminals” and “Carry You” being the others.

Two other tracks — “Wait for Me” and “Laying Me Low” — were previously released as singles.

“Digital Vein” is also available through iTunes for pre-order — $12.99 for the deluxe version and $9.99 for a 12-track version.
