David Cook returning to Idol, racing for hope

3

Great news for David Cook fans.

The Season 7 Idol winner is returning to the show to perform on the Top 4 results show May 10.

Better yet, he tweeted Monday afternoon that he’ll be performing “a brand new song.”

Which certainly means it won’t be a tune off his 2011 album, “This Loud Morning.”

But between now and the Idol appearance, David has another engagement I bet he considers every bit as important.

For the fourth straight year, he’ll participate in the Race for Hope in Washington, D.C., helping raise money for research in the fight against brain cancer, the disease that took his brother four years ago.

For the last three years, David’s team has been the top fundraiser for the event.

A four-peat might be difficult. As of Monday night, Team David Cook was in fourth place with pledges of more than $61,500.

The team in first place had just over $90,000 in pledges.

Regardless, it’s for a good cause, a great gesture on David’s part.

And Sunday’s 5K Race for Hope should be a snap for him by this point.

Earlier this year, he ran the 26.2-mile Los Angeles marathon, and raised more than $72,000 for the same cause.

61K not bad for the Race for Hope considering his fans raised over 112K not too long ago for his run in the LA Marathon which will also go to ABC2 cause. Also all the proceeds from his concert at the State Theater in DC the night before the race will also go to ABC2 so that really is impressive! 🙂

Opps! Make that 72K for the LA Marathon! I had heard it was 112K. My bad!

David and his team just raised over $72,000 for the same cause when he participated in the LA Marathon recently. When you add the totals plus the proceeds from The Concert for Hope together this is a very impressive total. Keep up the good work and the wonderful music, Mr Cook
