The Voice coaches were quite stingy with their chair turns when the Season 19 blind auditions were filmed.
How else do you explain just one chair turn for Casme following that high-energy performance we witnessed Monday night?
Or just two for Kelsie Watts following that superb cover of a Kelly Clarkson song.
But the coaches were finally enticed to give Desz just the third four-chair turn of the season when she closed Monday’s show with her version of “Unbreak My Heart.”
Here’s a recap of Monday’s show, complete with Voice Views’ picks for the top performances of the night.
BEST OF THE NIGHT
The artist: Desz, 30, Houston, Texas
The song: “Unbreak My Heart” by Toni Braxton
Chair turns: Desz had barely begun singing when Kelly turned her chair. John quickly followed. A powerful, passionate vocal and a great glory note eventually enticed chair turns from Gwen and Blake as well. John praised her performance, the range and the creativity she showed on a song that’s difficult to sing.
Her choice: The Voice decided to extend the suspense and reveal which team Desz joins at the beginning of Tuesday’s show. John Legend has lured both four-chair turns so far — Tamara Jade and Cami Clune — to his team.
