And the past Idols aren’t disappointing. Fantasia joins Kris Allen, Taylor Hicks and Lee DeWyze as the fourth past winner planning to release a new album this year.
But first, there’s the little matter of a lead single, and Fantasia dropped that this weekend.
It’s an mid-tempo tune called “No Time for It” about ignoring haters and focusing on what’s important to you. You can listen at right.
Fans are loving the new music. A sampling of some comments from Facebook follows.
Gregory Batsch: “I’m so loving Fantasia’s new single. I can’t wait for the album. I’m a huge fan, she’s such an inspiration to my life.”
Shaunte Lynch: “I cannot stop listening to it! My kids are telling me they are gonna throw my phone away!!! I can’t wait for the album to drop. I’m ready to preorder it now.”
Mr. Lee: “I love this song. It’s like a them for 2K16. ‘No Time for It.’ We will be great and make no room for dead weight or for anything holding us back.”
No word yet on a name or release date on the album.
But it will mark Fantasia’s fifth since winning Season 3 of American Idol. Her last album, 2013’s “Side Effects of You,” debuted at number two on the Billboard 200. It was also nominated for a Grammy award, as were two songs from the album.
Fantasia releases the new single fresh off appearances at the Soul Train Awards and the Voice of a Century tribute to Frank Sinatra. Follow the links and you can watch those performances.
