Former Voice contestant Rachel Messer released her debut EP Friday

Friday brought a debut EP from another of the talented country singers we met on The Voice.

That would be Rachel Messer, who released her four-song collection called “California Sunrise.”

“I’ve been dreaming of putting out an EP for years now, and the time has finally come,” says Rachel on Facebook.

“California Sunrise” features two songs she wrote, including the excellent lead single “This Old Heart,” which you can check out below.

The other two tracks were written by Larry Cordle.

The EP features the same traditional country sound Rachel displayed when she covered — and yodeled — “I Want to be a Cowboy’s Sweetheart” to earn a spot on Season 15 of The Voice.

From Fort Gay, W.Va., Rachel’s also been singing for Billy Jean Osborne’s Kentucky Opry at the Mountain Arts Center in Prestonburg, Kentucky.

Here’s “This Old Heart” from Rachel’s “California Sunrise.”
