Four days after surgery, Kris Allen opens new tour

Anyone fearful that Kris Allen wouldn’t be able to keep his local tour dates because of a New Year’s car crash, fear not.

Four days after undergoing surgery on his broken right wrist, Kris opened the tour last night in Killington, Vt.

Kris Allen sent out a photo of his hand in a cast earlier this week.He couldn’t hang around after the show to sign autographs, tweeting “really gotta rest up.”

But otherwise, the show apparently went off without a hitch.

And Kris is also doing something special on this tour — a request song each night.

He’s asking fans to tweet him the name of a song — his own or a cover — that they’d like to see him perform at each show.

The day of, he’ll pick one of the songs, then perform it that night.

At last night’s Out Alive Tour opener, he covered Roberta Flack’s “Killing Me Softly.” Head over to mjsbigblog for video of that performance.

Kris has a Friday gig planned at World Cafe Live in Philly. Ticket prices range from $19 to $29.

On Monday, he’ll play Ram’s Head Live in Annapolis, Md. Tickets are $19.50.
