Sounds like Funsho is going to waste no time getting new music out to his old fans and the new ones he gained on Season 15 of The Voice.
The Nigerian-born artist turned three chairs with his blind audition performance of “Finesse” by Bruno Mars.
He opted to join Team Adam Levine, but was stolen by Blake Shelton in the battle round and wound up advancing all the way to the live playoffs before being eliminated.
Funsho released a good deal of music before the show, including a debut album called “Love Acoustically,” a followup called “S.H.E. (Sounds Have Emotions)” in 2015 and an EP called “The Free Love” earlier this year.
Funsho, 29, when he auditioned, told Voice Views he hopes to have new music out before the end of the year. Here’s what he had to say about his time on The Voice and his music moving forward.
Voice Views: Where do you see The Voice experience leading you musically? What are your musical goals / aspirations now?
Funsho: Just gaining the exposure that I have gained through being on The Voice, and making it as far as I did opens so many doors. The possibilities are limitless! I am excited to release new music, and perform live for my new fans all over the world.
Voice Views: Do you envision releasing new music soon? If so, can you tell me about that? Either what you have planned or what you’d like to do? And what sound fans can expect?
Funsho: I will be releasing an EP in the spring, and singles before the end of the year. Fans can expect a sound that evolves from my previous projects. I hope to create music that can connect lyrically with people from any background, in terms of the story it tells. The stories on this particular project will be told in the context of a R&B, hip hop influenced sound. I also hope to bring some of my Nigerian culture into my sound.
Voice Views: Which was your favorite Voice performance and why?
Funsho: My favorite Voice performance was “Earned It” during the Knockouts, because I thought that song was perfect for me. I loved that it allowed me to show my range, and have fun with the performance.
Voice Views: Is there anything else you’d like to add about The Voice experience?
Funsho: This has been a great honor, and an incredibly fun experience. I’m excited for what’s to come!
