“Music Speaks” hit download sites and stores Tuesday.

So far, the sales results are mixed. At 10 a.m., the album was number nine on iTunes downloads chart.

Above it: Albums from Cole Swindell, Eric Church, Issues, Phantogram, Lake Street Drive, Beyonce, Imagine Dragons and the soundtrack to “Frozen.”

The good news: Candice is getting high praise from music critics. Check out the following reviews.

Los Angeles Times: Gives Candice 2.5 stars and a positive review, writing that she has “made a better record than the last few “Idol” champs, one that doesn’t sound like its quirks have been ironed out in an attempt to satisfy the show’s once-enormous audience.”

New York Daily News: Gives Candice 4 stars. “Rather than drawing from modern R&B, trendy hip-hop or gimmicky pop, most of Glover’s music references the formality and poise of 1960s lounge music. It’s dominated by dressy piano ballads — elegant in melody, grand in performance.”

Newsday: Gives Candice a B, but notes that the album and Candice face an uphill battle given the state of American Idol Season 12. “The music industry is rarely fair, but Candice Glover has drawn a remarkably unfortunate lot for her debut, ‘Music Speaks.'”

Rolling Stone: Gives Candice 2.5 stars out of 5, saying “American Idol’s 12th victor deserves better than this much-delayed hodgepodge of styles and ideas” and that “the songs reveal a serious identity crisis.”

The Boston Globe: No rating, but a favorable review saying, “Glover’s debut showcases her immense talent and bucks a formulaic trend many R&B singers have fallen prey to in recent years. This is a traditional song-based disc without the barrage of guest MCs added for crossover appeal.”
