Grant Ganzer advances on The Voice

0

Grant Ganzer, 16, of Johnston, Iowa, was one of two Team Blake Shelton members to advance during the battle round Tuesday night on The Voice.

The teen was squared off against John Martin, 25, of Chicago, Ill., who had turned two more chairs than Grant during the blind auditions.

But Grant prevailed when Blake asked them to perform OneRepublic’s “Stop and Stare.” The performance was not aired on the show.

During a conference call with the media Wednesday afternoon, Grant said he thought the battle with John “really went well.

“Blake said I had more confidence in my parts of the song and had more passion. And he said he wanted to keep working with me because my voice is very unique.”

Still, the battle round is a difficult situation to be in because of the bond formed with a teammate who might be eliminated, Grant noted.

“The hardest part is the outcome,” he said. “I think the performance would be much easier if you didn’t know someone was going to be picked (to advance) at the end of it.”
