Troy Durden was quite the jokester during his American Idol audition.

And by the time it ended, he was dancing off to Hollywood.

Of course, that’s how the audition started, with Troy proclaiming his love of dancing.

Or, more specifically, twerking.

He showed off that ability, then launched into a rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” that caught the Idol judges by surprise.

They wound up asking Troy to sing the song while twerking. Being a good sport, the 29-year-old club singer played right along.

During his Road to Hollywood video, Troy says that when Jennifer handed him his golden ticket, she said: “Work less on twerking and come ready to sing. And I said, ‘I will.'”

Troy thinks he has a different type of voice and loves to put his stamp on songs people wouldn’t expect him to sing — like those recorded by female artists.

His musical inspirations include Brandy Norwood, Prince, Michael Jackson and Marvin Gay.

An all-around entertainer, he also refers to himself as The Electrik Kidd. You can hear lots more on his YouTube channel.

“Climax” (Usher cover)

“Gym Class Heroes”
