We met the 15-year-old from Crawford, Col., on Wednesday’s Season 15 premiere episode of American Idol.
She explained how she lives in the elk wilderness, a spot on remote Saddle Mountain in Colorado where there’s no electricity.
That leaves plenty of time to play music, and Jeneve Rose released a 13-track album two years ago called “Rocky Mountain Hillbilly Girl.”
A native of Las Vegas, she also has a website, Twitter account and Facebook page.
But American Idol apparently wasn’t exaggerating about the rural flavor of her homelife.
She told FOX 411 that her father, a carpenter, built the home in which her family lives using straw bales and mud from a mountainslide and that her nearest neighbor lives six miles away.
Jeneve Rose impressed by Idol judges and earned a unanimous ticket to Hollywood by playing cello while singing The Band Perry’s “Chainsaw.”
Home-schooled, she also plays string bass, violin, banjo, guitar and harp. And she has used her musical talents to perform benefit shows that helped finance a rural health clinic that her father built and that her mother now runs.
