*** Lee DeWyze talks 2nd album ***
The Red Eye has published an interview done with Season 9 Idol winner Lee DeWyze prior to a New Year’s Eve gig in downtown Chicago.
In the article, Lee talks extensively about the second post-Idol album he plans to release sometime in 2012. “This album will be much different than the last album as far as creative control on it. I definitely have been able to write the songs I want to write and take my time on it.”
He questions whether RCA Records, which dropped him in September, did enough to promote his “Live It Up” CD. And he says the new album will include some folk country songs. You can read the article here.
Personally, I hope the new album sounds more like “Slumberland,” one of two pre-Idol albums Lee did, and less like “Live It Up.” I always found it strange that Lee seemed to want to distance himself from his very good pre-Idol music when doing interviews after winning Season 9.
*** Jordin Sparks on Celebrity Slimdown ***
Season 6 Idol winner Jordin Sparks appeared on Celebrity Slimdown on E! last night.
If you missed the episode, Jordin is taking the blame. “I’m a dork & forgot 2 tell you lovelies that I was on E! tonight: ‘Celebrity Slimdowns: Losing The Weight.’ ‘I’m sure it will come on again,” she told fans in a Tweet.
Ah, but a very slimmed down dork. And, yes, it is on again, apparently at 6 p.m. EST today.
According to a press release from E!, Jordin says a bout of pneumonia made her think about dropping some weight.
“I was like, I’m twenty-one, I have my whole life ahead of me, I shouldn’t be this sick right now. I need to make being active a priority.”
She wound up losing 30 pounds in four months.
*** EP this month from Vonzell Solomon ***
Looks like we will be getting an EP later this month from Vonzell Solomon.
“Listening to the Mix of my EP,” she tweeted yesterday. “I must say @wiidope (her producers) DID THEIR THANG HONEY!! VERY IMPRESSED!”
The release date is set for Jan. 24.
Vonzell finished third behind Carrie Underwood and Bo Bice on Season 4 of Idol. The EP will be her first release since the 8-track “My Struggle” from October 2006.
