A little more than two years after winning The Voice Season 17, Jake Hoot releases his post-show debut EP on Wednesday.

And you might say the reception for “Love Out of Time” has been pretty impressive.

Friday evening, nearly 48 hours after it’s release, the five-song project was still in the Top 20 on the Apple Music overall albums chart.

And it was sitting at number four on the Apple Music country albums chart, one topped by another Voice alum, Morgan Wallen with his recently released “Dangerous.”

Wrote Jake on Instagram: “If I could write out what this album means to me, it would take more than the character limit that Instagram allows.

“But I will tell you that myself, my family, my team, producer, writers, studio band, and so many others poured so much of ourselves into this project, and its surreal that it’s finally out!”

The EP got an instant popularity boost from the fact that it features a duet — “I Would’ve Loved You” — with his Voice coach Kelly Clarkson.

Jake co-wrote the bombastic love song with Jamie Flyn and Dean Sams. And it appears a music video featuring Jake and Kelly will soon follow.

“‘I Would’ve Loved You’ is a song about how the choices we make and the consequences that follow,” Jake told County Music Tattle Tale. “It is a story about someone who has so much love to give, but due to the other person’s decisions, that love turns into a hate that lasts forever.”

“I Would’ve Loved You” closes an EP that opens with my favorite track, the catchy “This is the Night.” That’s another Hoot co-write, this one with Danny Myrick and Kylie Sackley.

In between, Jake invited fellow Season 17 finalist Ricky Duran to lend an assist on a fun cover of Ritchie Valens’ “La Bamba.”
