Jamai is the young man from Chester, Pa., we met during The Voice Season 14 blind auditions. You might remember him as the guy who runs a singing telegram business.

He was eliminated in a Team Alicia Keys battle round match with Sharane Calsiter that aired Monday night. They sang “Mercy” by Shawn Mendes.

But the battle round matches we’re seeing now were filmed in late January. Since then, Jamai told Voice Views he’s been practicing and working on new music.

“I feel that I have a lot to talk about and, since I taught myself how to play guitar, my music has grown tremendously,” Jamai told Voice Views. “I’m looking forward to showing the world who I am.”

As for his time on The Voice, Jamai said “I’m not sure if I grew creatively from the show but I learned a lot about television and how things work behind the scenes.

“Being on such an amazing show such as The Voice taught me so much, and it was so much fun,” he added. “I am beyond grateful for all the new friends I made, the producers, and the coaches.”

Jamai, as viewers might have noticed from watching the show, also has a distinct sense of style. On Twitter, he calls his performances “The Unhuman Entertainer Experience” and he’s been known to take the stage in outfits resembling superhero garb. Just check out the photos emblazoned across the top of his Twitter and Facebook accounts.

“I am all about being my true self and having the courage to be as creative and as expressive as I possibly can,” explains Jamai, 28 when he auditioned for the show. “Sometimes I challenge myself to see if I have the guts to wear the things I envision.”
