This much is certain, James is wrapping up work on his debut album. Earlier today, James tweeted that he was “going in for my last day of recording. Film crews coming in to shoot clips for potential singles!”

I can’t help but root for James. His was one of this year’s feel-good stories on Idol, the rocker who overcame Tourettes & Aspergers and was having trouble affording diapers for his son, Hunter, pre-Idol.

Besides, he’s a hoot on Twitter.

For instance, his brief bio concludes with “Buy the record. PLEASE!!!”

For instance, the day after the final Idol summer tour performance, he sent out this Tweet: “Officially done with Idol. Hallelujah. Let the rock commence!”

As for the rock album, it’s going to be called “Memories of a Beautiful Disaster.” Which has to immediately qualify as one of the best titles yet for an Idol debut album, though it would sound more original if Kelly Clarkson hadn’t once released a single called “Beautiful Disaster.”

Anyway, James explains the album title this way:  It’s about “looking back on events in my life to see the beauty in the pain.”

As for the music, it’ll be a “hybrid of Aerosmith and My Chemical Romance,” James promised in a Sept. 26 tweet he called “spoiler alert.”

And, if The Hollywood Reporter is correct, Wind-Up Records says we’ll get to hear it all on Nov. 21.

For those who can’t wait, there’s an original James Durbin rock tune called “Stand Up” on the already available on an EP titled “Officials Gameday Music of the NFL, Vol. 2.”  The five-song EP also includes a track from Jordin Sparks titled “You Gotta Want It.”
