She’s one of the featured vocalists on “The Color Purple” soundtrack, which captured the Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album.
Jennifer couldn’t be in L.A. for Sunday night’s Grammy festivities, but celebrated with a cake on her Instagram page.
“Congrats to the entire cast and production of #colorpurple on our grammy win!!!” she wrote. “We did it! Im honored to say my second Grammy was from the broadway color purple soundtrack! Wow yay!! I wish U guys were here to eat this cake with me! I’m so sorry I couldn’t be there oh but we made it!!!”
Jennifer also won a Grammy in 2009 for best R&B album.
She was one of five artists with singer show ties who were up for Grammys. But Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson and Cassadee Pope watched others walk away with the trophies.
Carrie and Keith did get their moment in the spotlight, singing their duet and new single “The Fighter” early in the show.
Voice judge Alicia Keys also performed, sharing the stage with new Grammy winner Maren Morris for a performance of “Once.”
Kelly wasn’t in L.A. either, but tweeted about the Grammys.
“Congrats @Adele on Pop Solo Performance #grammys2017 ….and sorry fans, I’m recording and not in LA for Grammy’s! Next year #newalbum2017”
