After American Idol

Jessica Sanchez lands on video and music charts with ‘Stronger Together’

Sanchez is enjoying a pretty good 2016.

Earlier this year, she provided one of the most riveting vocal highlights of the American Idol finale, covering “The Prayer.”

But her biggest break came when she was tabbed to record “Stronger Together” for the Democratic National Convention.

The song has since become an anthem for the Hillary Clinton campaign.

And Jessica’s first chart hit.

The song was released by Republic Records in mid-August; the music video debuted this weekend.

“Stronger Together” was number 20 this week on Billboard’s dance club songs chart, up from 26 just a week earlier. It’s been on that chart for four weeks.

Oh, and by the way, the two moments mentioned above are linked. “Stronger Together” was written by the Clinton campaign by Carole Bayer Sager, Bruce Roberts and Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds.

Sager also wrote “The Prayer.” And it was Jessica’s version of the song that prompted Sager to reach out and see if she was available to record “Stronger Together,” according to Billboard.

Jessica, of course, was the Season 11 runner-up to Phillip Phillips on American Idol.
