For the second straight week, the 22-year-old has cracked the Top 10 on iTunes’ singles chart.
That means Jordan gets bonus points toward advancing on the show and toward his vote total in the finale, should he make it that far.
At this point, that seems like a certainly. Within a half hour of Monday’s show, Jordan’s cover of “Great is Thy Faithfulness” had already hit the Top 10.
By midnight EST, it was number two on the chart, trailing only Adele’s “Hello.” By 2 a.m., he had passed even her, moving to the top spot on the Top 200. And when voting ended at noon, it was still the number one single in the land.
And, of course, it was also number one on the iTunes’ Christian / gospel singles chart.
Oh, and three of Jordan’s previous songs from The Voice have also surged on the iTunes’ Top 200. At 9:30 a.m. EST, “Halo” was at number 16, “Chandelier” was at number 46 and “Set Fire to the Rain” was at number 64.
Jordan wasn’t the only artist from The Voice enjoying chart success. Two other singers had cracked the Top 10 on the overall singles chart; 10 of the 12 songs from Monday’s show landed in the Top 10 on a genre chart.
One of the biggest surprises on iTunes might be Amy Vachal’s toned-down version of “Hotline Bling.” It ended up at number six on the overall singles chart, number four on the pop chart.
Also earning big bonus points toward staying in the competition is Jeffery Austin with his performance of “Let It Go,” which I considered the night’s best.
One singer departs The Voice tonight, and chart performance is typically a good indicator of who might be in danger.
Here’s where all the songs were at noon EST, when voting ended.
