The single hit digital sites last week and is the second since The Voice for Josh, who finished fourth on Season 11.
Josh told Voice Views the song was the product of a songwriters’ retreat in Oklahoma and was written with good buddies Davis Corely and Matt Warren.
“The night before, Davis asked me if I liked the idea ‘run the radio.’ I asked ‘What’s the angle?’ And he said, ‘Just simple, you and your girl driving and she can run the radio. Kinda like, ‘Don’t worry, I’ll get us there; you just crack that radio.'”
Josh’s first post-Voice single, “How ‘Bout You,” was number two this week on Bobby “The Iceman” Golomboski’s Nashville-based new country artist chart.
Josh says more new music is on the way, with another single likely out in the fall.
“We’re in the studio constantly and I’m writing a bunch of new music,” he said. “It’s gonna be cool to get it out to the fans when we’re ready to roll with it.”
Josh was 25 when he auditioned for The Voice and landed a spot on Team Blake Shelton. But he made the finals as a member of Team Adam Levine.
He also released a couple of singles prior to his fall 2016 appearance on the show.
