Koryn Hawthorne celebrates her new Dove Award

Koryn Hawthorne celebrates her new Dove Award.

You can add a Dove Award to Koryn Hawthorne’s impressive list of post-Voice accomplishments.

Koryn’s hit single “Won’t He Do It” took the award for Best Contemporary Gospel / Urban Recorded Song of the Year when the Dove Awards were filmed earlier this week.

Koryn is still at number one on Billboard’s hot gospel songs chart with her lead single off her debut album “Unstoppable.”

That makes 31 weeks at number one for “Won’t He Do It,” which is also currently number five on the Billboard Gospel Airplay chart, where it spent at least 15 weeks at number one.

Oh, and that 31 weeks at the top of the chart marks the most ever by a female artist.

And to my ears, “Won’t He Do It,” isn’t even the catchiest song on “Unstoppable.” I’d give that honor to “Down Goes Rome.”

Oh, and Koryn’s album has spent 13 weeks on Billboard gospel albums chart, where it’s currently number five.

Koryn, who turns 21 in December, was also nominated for the Dove Award for Best New Artist. That honor went to Tauryn Wells.

The Dove Awards were presented Tuesday in Nashville. The awards show will air on TBN at 9 p.m. Sunday. It’s also available on demand through the Dove Award website.

Koryn also performed at the show, along with Tori Kelly, Rascal Flatts, Trace Adkins, Kirk Franklin, Lauren Daigle and many more.

Koryn was just 16 when she auditioned for Season 8 of The Voice. She wound up making the finals and finishing fourth behind Sawyer Fredericks, Meghan Linsey and Joshua Davis.

Past Dove Award winners include former American Idol contestants Danny Gokey, Mandisa and Colton Dixon.
