New American Idol Kris Allen will have a debut album out this fall, according to a statement released Monday by 19 Entertainment.
19 announced that it has signed Kris to a recording contract — no surprise there — and that his recordings have been licensed to Jive Records.
“As exciting as the last few months have been, I’m really looking forward to what is next,” Kris says in the press release.
“Everyone’s been asking me what (the album’s) going to sound like. It will be very similar to what you heard from me on the show — definitely in the pop/rock genre. I can’t waited to get started.”
Kris’ Idol single, “No Boundaries,” is number 23 on Billboard’s chart of Hot 100 singles this week, down from a debut position of number 11. The Conway, Ark., resident has two other Idol performances in the top 100.
Kris and the other Idols are preparing for a summer tour that kicks off July 5 and includes dates in Washington, D.C. on Aug. 4, Baltimore on Aug. 5 and Reading on Sept. 8.
