Kristen Merlin has released a music video for her first single in three years.

In the song, comeback is used in a romantic sense. As in two former lovers rekindling a flame even though they know they shouldn’t.

But the song does represent something of a comeback for Kristen, because it marks her first original release since an EP called “Boomerang” in 2015.

That release came on the heels of a Top 5 finish on Season 6 of The Voice.

The new single was co-written by Alex Kline, Kellys Collins and Hannah Blaylock.

Kristen told Keys and Chords the minute she heard the song, she knew it would be a perfect first single to introduce listeners to her more “country-rock oriented sound.”

She also believes it’s a song with which many people can connect.

“I completely relate to its theme of going back to something you shouldn’t, but doing it anyway because it feels good,” Kristen, who recently turned 34, told the site.
