Add LiLi Joy to the list of Season 16 The Voice contestants who want to get new original music to fans as soon as possible.

In Lili case, she’s planning to release a debut EP this spring.

You might remember the 15-year-old from Chino Hills, Calif., for her wigs. And for her blind audition performance of “Cool” by Gwen Stefani.

The latter earned her a spot on Team Blake Shelton. She was eliminated from the show during a battle round match with Carter Lloyd Horne. Just a tiny snippet of that battle aired Monday night.

Here’s what the talented young artist told Voice Views about her new music and her time on the show.

Voice Views: The battle round was filmed in January. What have you been doing in terms of music or the entertainment industry since then? Has there been a specific post-Voice experience that stands out so far?

LiLi: I have performed some great gigs, sang the anthem at a large little league kick off, had my first radio interview and have been working really hard on my music. I will be releasing an EP of songs that I wrote and worked on producing with the help of another music producer. I loved recording strings (violin) for one of my songs! I was working on this EP before the Voice scouted me for their show. I am close to being done with it and can’t wait to release it next month!

Voice Views: We only saw the smallest snippet of your battle round match. Can you tell me a little about how that went, what you thought of the song choice and the feedback you got?

LiLi: Well, at first I wasn’t fond of the song choice for me, which was “I Got You Babe” by Sonny and Cher, but I had so much fun working on it with Carter Lloyd Horne. He quickly became like a brother to me.

All and all, it’s a bummer they couldn’t show the whole performance because our choreography was really cute. Long and short of it, America really missed out! But, we had a great time and got some really great coaching from Blake Shelton and Brookes and Dunn.

Voice Views: Where do you see your time on the show leading you musically? What do you have planned next? Do you think you’ll be releasing new music in the future and, if so, what can fans expect in terms of sound/timing?

LiLi: Fans can expect the EP by early to mid May! My style of music and songwriting has a way of soothing your mood and uplifting your psyche! I like to write lyrics that send you on a journey to take you from a dark place and transcend you to a flight of joy!

My EP’s songs are called “Sink,” “Float” and “Glow.” They were written to help take you to a beautiful place in your mind’s eye. I feel my songs have beautiful vocals, strong guitar licks as well and beautiful piano and violin harmonies!

Voice Views: Do you think you grew as an artist as a result of The Voice experience? If so, in what way?

LiLi: Yes, it was amazing to hone in on my singing even further and learn how much improvement you can make when you push your voice. The Voice is like boot camp for singers and is unlike anything else you can experience. I learned how to work with an incredibly talented band and perform on television stages.

Voice Views: Is there anything else you’d like to add about your experience on the show?

LiLi: One thing I would like to say is that beautiful things come at the time you least expect it. The Voice was that for me! I didn’t ever expect I would make it on a show like this or audition at this point in my life. But if you have fun with your passion, good things will come to you.
