Cecily Hennigan says she’s been busy working on her original music since her time on The Voice ended.

Cecily was one of the talented young members of Season 16, having earned a spot on Team Blake Shelton with her blind audition performance of Jewel’s “Foolish Games.”

She was eliminated following a battle round performance of “Head Above Water” with the much more experience Selkii that aired Monday night.

Cecily, 16, of Conway, S.C., is a student at the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities.

Here’s what she told Voice Views about her music and her time on the show.

Voice Views: The battle round was filmed in January. What have you been doing in terms of music or the entertainment industry since then? Has there been a specific post-Voice experience that stands out so far?

Cecily: Since the battles have been filmed, I’ve started to work on getting shows together, making merchandise, and writing songs till the night is over! There hasn’t been a huge post-voice experience for me yet, but I’m working on getting that big moment.

Voice Views: Where do you see your time on the show leading you musically? What do you have planned next? Do you think you’ll be releasing new music in the future and, if so, what can fans expect in terms of sound/timing?

Cecily: I think that the show was the best stepping stool for my music career because it gave me a bigger fan base and so much support. I’m starting to work on releasing an album soon, and honestly, the fans should just expect the unexpected!

I’m tapping into my deepest thoughts, my biggest emotions and the most beautiful moments of my life and pouring it out through the melody, and lyrics, and progressions. I’m hoping that it will reach people in whatever way they need. I hope to have it released by the end of the summer.

Voice Views: Do you think you grew as an artist as a result of The Voice experience? If so, in what way?

Cecily: I definitely think that I grew as an artist from the Voice, not only from the coaching Blake gave me, but also by being surrounded by so many unique, talented musicians. I have learned bits and pieces from every one of them in so many ways and its helped me develop a lot as an artist and even as a person.

Voice Views: Is there anything else you’d like to add about your experience on the show?

Cecily: Honestly the show was one of the greatest experiences of my life and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I am ready to use every ounce of training, inspiration, and support that I have received from the show and give back all that I have to make people feel something through my music.
