When it came time to select a coach for The Voice, Comeback Stage winner Lynnea Moorer remembered her blind audition, filmed way back in June.

She failed to turn a chair with her cover of Khalid’s “Location,” but Kelly Clarkson wanted to hear something else, something that would be a better showcase for Lynnea’s vocal ability.

The 19-year-old from California launched into a short a cappella snippet of Adele’s “Someone Like You” and blew the coaches away.

“I chose Kelly because she was the one who gave me the opportunity during the blinds, to sing that second song and show people that I was capable of being on the show,” Lynnea told Voice Views. “I just needed to sing a different song!”

Voice viewers clearly agreed.

After being advanced to Tuesday’s show via the Comeback Stage, Lynnea sang “Boo’d Up.” Ayanna Joni countered with “No Tears Left to Cry.”

In the Twitter tally that followed, about 85 percent of the vote went to Lynnea, giving her a spot on next week’s Top 13 show.

Lynnea said she chose “Boo’d Up” because she’s a big fan of the artist, Ella Mai, adding “I just love the vibe of the song!”

A sophomore at Bruman University in Alberta, Canada, Lynnea is best known for her YouTube channel, who has more than 450,000 subscribers.

Suffice to say The Voice stage is the biggest she’s performed on.

In terms of public performances, Lynnea says “I did things like talent shows and praise team singing for my schools that I’ve been to, but nothing else really.

“The biggest performance was probably my freshman year of high school. There were like 300 people in the audience. I was singing praise music for that performance and it was just amazing.”

And while she’s always been interested in music, Lynnea says it took a friend to nudge her into performing, way back in fifth grade.

“My best friend, Emma Griffin-Ortiz, made me do a talent show with her and showed me how fun music was!” Lynnea says.

For Lynnea, the fun continues Monday night when she’ll performed alongside the other members of the Top 12.
