The single is called “First Aid Kit.” The album — a name hasn’t been revealed — will be released May 17, right around the time the 17th season of American Idol is wrapping up.
The new single is a ballad written by written by Connor Pledger and Asia Whitacre, which marks a departure from Maddie’s pop-heavy last two singles, “Going, Going Gone” and “Keep On Movin’ On.”
And though she didn’t write the new single, Maddie said “it feels like it’s authentically me.
“It’s about finding someone who helps you heal from a broken heart and learning to love again,” said Maddie, Idol’s Season 16 champ. “I love the message of this song, and it feels incredible to release something that I feel such a personal connection to. It’s very heartwarming.”
Here’s “First Aide Kit.”
