Marina Chello is one of the singers taking a second shot at music with the help of The Voice.

She thought she was on the verge of breaking out as a full-time artist back in 2009, when she signed a record deal and released a couple of singles.

But it “just didn’t happen.” Instead, she wound up stepping away from music to start a family and run her father’s catering hall.

She returned in the biggest of ways on The Voice Season 17.

Performing Pinks “Walk Me Home” for her blind audition, she turned two chairs and wound up joining Team Blake Shelton.

Here’s what Marina told Voice Views about her blind audition experience.

Voice Views: How did you wind up auditioning for The Voice Season 17 and what prompted you to do it?

Marina: I’ve always loved the show and wanted to audition. I actually was contacted by The Voice casting team on Instagram after I did the “12daysofvoice” hashtag for them to hear me singing on Instagram and watch my videos. They liked what they heard and that’s how I winded up in LA.

Voice Views: Why did you choose “”Walk Me Home”” for your audition song?

Marina: I love Pink and her powerful songs. I wanted to sing something upbeat and have a nice rock/soulful sound which is still pop, and this song just spoke to me. Plus, the first time I heard the band in rehearsal I knew it was great; the band is soooo unbelievably good. We had fun with the song!

Voice Views: Why did you decide to join Team Blake? That decision seemed to surprise him a bit.

Marina: I always thought if I ever do the show I’d choose him because he’s so humble and down to earth, and I always liked the songs he chooses for his artists. He makes it about the singer and gives great advice, and he’s the OG on the show. My gut just said go with Blake.
