Alyssa Raghu did pretty well on Season 16 of American Idol, making it all the way to the Top 24.

Not content with that showing, however, she announced that she decided to try again in Season 17.

“I auditioned for American Idol again!” the talented songstress proclaimed on Facebook in late December. “I know so many of you wanted me to try for a second time and see if I can win it. I’ve been working super hard this past year.”

Here’s more about Alyssa:

* From Orlando, Fla., she was 16 when she auditioned for Season 16. In fact, she was featured in the season premiere and her performance of Ariana Grande’s “Almost Never Enough” impressed the judges so much that Katy Perry predicted she might reach the Top 10.

* Apparently, that cover impressed more than the judges. Alyssa released a cover of the song to digital music sites. It’s been streamed more than 100,000 times on Spotify.

* It’s one of three songs Alyssa has released to date, along with “Leave” from 2017 and an original called “Dear Self” that dropped in June. You can check out the latter below.

* Raghu is a shortened version of Alyssa’s full last name of Raghunandan; she’s of Indian and Mexican descent. “It’s pronounced Raa-G-OO, like the sauce!” she tells us on Instagram.

* Check out her Facebook page, and you’ll see that this young lady has kept very busy since Idol. And that includes an October show in Alabama with fellow Season 16 standouts Gabby Barrett, Cade Foehner, Ron Bultongez and Andrew Weaver.

* Head to her YouTube, and you can check out some of Alyssa’s performances from a late October show at the House of Blues in Orlando with Latitude 28.

Alyssa Ragu you have forgiven me maybe the confidence to come to the show anybody who does not pick you or vote for you will be and will always have in the back of their mind or disappointment and knowing they did not vote for one of the future Best female singers we’ve ever had on the radio and that means a lot coming from me because I consider Whitney Houston to be the best female singer ever on the face of the earth Mariah Carey to be close second and I think you might be in the top five ever one of your biggest fan sincerely Mathew Lee Selby
