Riley Thompson auditioned for American Idol Season 17.

And she’s about to go straight from one singing competition to another, having announced that she auditioned for Season 17 of American Idol.

On Real Country, Riley, from Mabank, Texas, was the show’s youngest contestant at age 15.

Here’s more about Riley:

* She wound up performing on love songs night on Real Country, going up against former police officer Frank Ray and Porter Union, a duo with more than 10 years of experience. Porter Union wound up winning the night, meaning Riley did not advance.

* Riley represented Team Shania Twain on Real Country. Said Shania: “You’re not amazing because you’re young. You’re not amazing because you’re gorgeous. You’re amazing because you’re talented.”

* Riley sang Taylor Swift’s “Love Story” on the show, and here’s what she had to say about the show. “No idea how to put into words what all I want to say about this experience,” she wrote on Facebook. “So I will just say this — unbelievable. It’s really unbelievable. I never dreamed I would have such a great opportunity. It just happened so fast. My head may be spinning, but my heart is bursting! It doesn’t matter the place or how far I got, or what happens next. This is an accomplishment I won’t be forgetting ANY time soon.”

* You might say 2018 was a pretty big year for Riley. She was also selected as one of five finalists from among 200 contestants in the TXM Singer Songwriter competition at Love and War in Lindale, Texas.

* During an interview leading up to that February 2018 competition, also posted to her Facebook page, Riley said she’d only been performing locally for about six months.
