Candice Glover, Season 11

Meet American Idol contestant Candice Glover

Candice Glover says she’s “absolutely crazy, out of my mind.”

She’s talking about her personality, and she sees it as a good thing.

“I think American Idol is about being yourself,” she says in her golden ticket interview. “Idol is about somebody you look up to. You want to look at somebody who says, ‘Hey, I don’t have any common sense — people that aren’t afraid to go into the world, just free.”

Candice took that attitude to Hollywood for the second time in Season 11; she also advanced that far in Season 9.

She didn’t try out last year, but said couldn’t resist last summer with an audition site so close to her hometown.

She’s a 22-year-old from St. Helena Island, S.C., and hails from a family of nine.

And it was her family that introduced her to singing at age 4 in Oaks True Holiness Church, where her uncle was pastor.

She went on to win the Beaufort (S.C.) Idol competition in 2008, when she was still in high school.

Candice said the auditions seemed different this year, because she had to impress two new judges — Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler.

“They told me it’s a good thing they’re here this time, because this could be my magic moment,” Candice says in her golden ticket interview.

Here are a couple of non-Idol videos of Candice singing.  If you want to hear more, head to her Facebook page.
