The audition: The trio DEK of Hearts, Nashville, performed “Heads Carolina, Tails California” by Jo Dee Messina. The trio earned an almost immediate chair turn from Reba McEntire and had all four coaches facing their way before the first verse began. Lead singer Emily Clapp showed off a very powerful voice during a fun audition. Snoop said they brought him the country holy ghost. Niall complimented their harmonies, especially since they’ve been together for such a short time (14 months at the time of their audition). He said he’s never had artist like DEK of Hearts on one of his Voice teams. Reba said she loved those harmonies. She turned to the fans, who seemed to agree DEK of Hearts should join Team Reba. The group huddled, noted that they sing country and pop and opted to join Team Niall in a bit of a shocker.

Here’s more about DEK of Hearts:

* DEK isn’t a single artist, but a trio who blend country, pop and bluegrass influences into their music, according to their web bio.

* The acronym DEK comes from the first names of the members – Dylan John of Munroe Falls, Ohio; Emily Clapp of Terra Haute, Indiana; and Kollin Bailey of Marshfield, Missouri.

* All three are graduates of Treveca Nazarene University in Nashville where they became best friends while singing worship music together.

* They officially formed their trio in April 2024 and released a debut single called “Taillights” in May. You can check out a live version of the song below.

* In an Instagram post, DEK of Hearts promises more music is coming “so soon.”

* They also took first place among 19 acts at the Tennessee Songwriters Week competition in Franklin, Tenn., earlier this year. The event is designed to highlight up and coming performers.

* That earned the trio a chance to perform at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville. They’ve also performed at the Listening Room Cafe in Nashville.

* In an interview with CityLifestyle.com, DEK of Hearts said one of their biggest musical influences is the famous country trio Lady A.

* Emily said the members of DEK of Hearts got to meet Lady A backstage at the Grand Ole Opry and calls the meeting “so impactful and encouraging.”

* Emily is primarily sings for the group. Dyland plays acoustic guitar. Kollin plays guitar, mandolin and keys.
