Joshua Vacanti from The Voice Season 21

Joshua Vacanti is among the singers to announce that they auditioned for Season 21 of The Voice.

The Voice returns to NBC on Monday, Sept. 20. Here’s more about Joshua.

* On Instagram, he identifies himself as singer and worship leader from Lockport, N.Y.

* That said, there are very few performance videos on his Instagram. One exception, a December 2020 performance of “Light of the World” in which he’s accompanied by wife Sam.

* They also duet on an original called “I’m You” which hit YouTube in September 2020. You can check it out below.

* Based on older interviews with the Union-Sun & Journal of Lockport, Joshua began singing at a young age, which eventually led to performances at Lockport Assembly of God Church.

* In 2008, at age 15, he won a Spotlight on Talent competition at the Palace Theatre with a performance of Mariah Carey’s “Hero” that you can still find on YouTube.

* He was also the Niagara Falls Idol winner for 2008 and 2009 and, at age 16, was invited to audition for America’s Got Talent.

* In 2014, he made the finals of the Youth for Truth Joyful Noise competition. He also served as lead vocalist for the Joyful Noise band.

* He graduated from Buffalo State University in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in vocal music.

* Since college, Joshua said he’s focused a lot on worship music and leads worship regularly with his wife at The Chapel at CrossPoint, and with his family’s worship band, Direct Worship.

* Says Joshua: “I grew up singing in the church and it’s a huge part of my musical identity and why I wanted to have a career in music. I feel that all my musical endeavors always stem from my love of worship music. Even when I am performing something secular or more theatrical, I approach it the same way I approach leading worship.”
