Kay Kay Alexis is among contestants who have announced on social media that they auditioned for ABC’s new version of American Idol.

Idol premieres Sunday with Katy Perry, Lionel Ritchie and Luke Bryan as the judges who determine which singers make it to Hollywood and which don’t.

Here’s more about Kay Kay Alexis.

* Kay Kay is a 17-year-old from Nashua, N.H.

* She won a chance to audition before Idol executive producers in Savannah, Ga., by winning a silver ticket in a New Hampshire Idol competition.

* Her winning song in that competition was Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing.”

* She’s been singing and performing most of her life. In fact, she also covers Whitney — “I Will Always Love You” — in the oldest video on her old YouTube channel. It was filmed when she was just 6.

* According to a report by a New Hampshire Radio Station, Kay Kay spent two years as a child performing in a Las Vegas production of “The Lion King.”

* As a child, she performed on the Tyra Banks Show (nine years ago) and the Maury (Povich) Show.
