Manasseh Samone from The Voice Season 23

Here’s more about Manasseh.

* Voice fans might recognize the name, because Manasseh auditioned for Season 22 at age 22, singing Lauren Daigel’s “Rescue.” She failed to turn a chair in spite of a pretty darn impressive vocal performance.

* Nevertheless, she got plenty of positive feedback from the judges. Gwen Stefani complimented Manasseh on “beautiful” vocal acrobatics and Camila Cabello called her a “really, really gifted singer.” John Legend said he thought her vibrato needed a bit more polish.

* Blake Shelton said he hoped Manasseh would “come back to see us.” Clearly, she wasted no time planning that comeback.

* On social media, Manasseh confesses to having trouble dealing with that setback saying “the amount of heaviness that I went through last season was probably the darkest time of my life.”

* She adds: “Everyone brushed me off and I continued to sing and glorify God in the most down times of my life. Going back to audition and getting some chairs turned would mean so much to me because it will bring so much confirmation that everything I went through wasn’t just for no reason. I thank God for his strength because I just don’t know where my mind would be without him.”

* In her pre-audition bio segment that aired last fall, Manasseh, from Dallas, was identified as a 22-year-old pre-school teacher and said her students ask her to sing all the time.

* Manasseh said one of her goals as a teacher is to instill self-worth because that’s something she struggled with growing up, partly because her father wasn’t part of her life.

* She said she found her “identity” through music and said she grew up watching The Voice.

* She’s also developed quite a following on TikTok with more than 30,000 followers and more than 735,00 likes on her page.
