Micaela McCall of American Idol Season 22

Idol returned to ABC on Sunday, Feb. 18 with the coaching trio of Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan back intact.

Here’s more about Micaela.

* Apparently, she went busking on a veranda, singing “I Dreamed a Dream” from “Les Miserables.”

* Someone posted a TikTok of the performance with the tag: “Internet do your thing — who are these people?!.” Well, it went viral and Micaela wound up being invited to audition for American Idol.

* Since, she’s even posted snippets of her audition songs, Bonnie Rait’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me” and Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours.”

* Producers also apparently asked them to do a bit of “I Dreamed a Dream” since that was the song responsible for her audition.

* Micaela is from Centerville, Ohio, but lives in Santa Barbara, Calif. She teaches music at DeTar Music, which is located there.

* She’s also been performing with a DeTar Music show called “Something This Way Magic.”

* Micaela has clearly been singing for quite some time. Her earliest YouTube videos are covers she and her brother posted 13 years ago.

* And while she doesn’t appear to have released music as Micaela McCall, she has been promoting an original called “Milk and Honey” on social media and says it will be released soon. You can check out a snippet below.

* And back in Centerville, she was part of Forte A Cappella, a group that has released lots of music. That included Micaela originals likes “Roses Fall,” “Flickering Flame” and “Mannequin.” The latter was runner-up for best original scholastic song at the 2013 Contemporary A Capella Recording Awards.
