Michael WIngate is one of the talented singers who auditioned for American Idol Season 18

And one of the artists we might meet is Michael Wingate.

Here’s more about Michael.

* On Facebook, he describes himself as a Jersey-born, Harlem-based singer-songwriter.

* He attending Keyport High School in Jersey, graduated in 2014 and was earned the honor of class valedictorian.

* But he didn’t even have a wall to hang his diploma on; his family’s home was destroy in Hurricane Sandy and he wound up homeless for 14 months.

* “That taught me resilience,” James said in this video interview. “You have to press on. People are counting on you.”

* Besides, James had a goal: To attend Harvard University. It’s a goal he accomplished as a member of the Class of 2018.

* He double majored in philosophy and government and also served as music director of the university’s acclaimed a cappella group, the Krokodiloes. Head to YouTube, and you’ll find video of him performing with the group.

* Michael doesn’t have music available on streaming sites, at least not under his name. But he has posted a cover of “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” to Soundcloud.

* He lists his genres of music as R&B, soul, pop and jazz on social media.
