Melanie Martinez climbs iTunes chart with ‘Sippy Cup’

Melanie MartinezWe’re just two weeks away from Melanie Martinez’s debut album.

And the Season 3 contestant from The Voice clearly has fans’ attention.

She released another song from her upcoming “Cry Baby” album on Friday.

The song — “Sippy Cup” — is a heck of a lot more ominous than it sounds.

By midnight, it had cracked the Top 10 on iTunes’ alternative songs chart — where Melanie had three of the Top 20 songs, by the way.

The accompanying video, directed by Melanie, hit YouTube Thursday and had already gotten nearly 220,000 views.

Melanie told Spin.com that “Sippy Cup” is her favorite among the videos she’s done so far, which is saying something considering how popular “Dollhouse” and “Carousel” were.

Those are two of other tracks on “Cry Baby.” So far, five of the 16 songs have been released, and I won’t be surprised it another drops next Friday.

Pre-orders for Melanie’s debut album are available on iTunes and through her website.

Now, here’s the new video.
