After seeing his first single, “Live Like We’re Dying,” head in the wrong direction last week, Kris Allen can celebrate a new peak position on Billboard’s Hot 100 — number 25.

That’s a eight-spot jump from a week ago, and his song is on several of Billboard’s other charts, including adult pop songs (number 11) and Christian singles (number 25).

What’s more, the video for the song made number one this week on VH1’s Top 20 countdown.

Meanwhile, Adam Lambert’s second single, “Whataya Want From Me,” made an even bigger jump this week, moving from number 65 to 55 on the Hot 100. Here’s betting he gets another boost next week, after his Tuesday appearance on Oprah.

Adam’s “For Your Entertainment” is number 35 on the Billboard 200, up five spots from a week ago. Kris’ self-titled debut is number 84, up 13.

Here’s a look at the other Idols on the music charts:

Kelly Clarkson: “Already Gone” has shown more staying power than I expected. It’s number 28 on the Hot 100, down three spots from a week ago. For the first time in at least three weeks, it was bumped from the top spot on the adult pop song chart. It’s also number nine on the adult contemporary chart.

Daughtry: A good week for Chris and the guys. “Life After You,” the current single, moves from 56 to 48 on the Hot 100. The album, “Leave This Town,” jumps from 59 to 53 on the Billboard 200. And their debut album is still on the same chart at number 184.

Katharine McPhee: Album number two takes a nosedive on the charts after debuting at number 27 last week. This week, it’s number 107 on the Billboard 200. If you haven’t heard, Kat will be at the Whitaker Center in July. Tickets go on sale today.

Kellie Pickler: “Didn’t You Know How Much I Loved You” hits a new peak of number 19 on the country songs chart, up two spots. Kellie’s second album is number 29 on the country album chart, down one spot from a week ago.

Carrie Underwood: “Play On,” her current album, is number three on the country chart for the second straight week. It moves up from 18 to 16 on the Billboard 200.

As for the singles, “Cowboy Casanova” is 45 on the Hot 100, down two notches. “Temporary Home” is number 84 on the Hot 100, up five spots, and number 13 on the country singles chart, up three spots.
