Carrie Underwood dominated the first-ever American Country Awards on FOX last December, taking home six awards, including Artist of the Year.
She won’t quite be able to match that feat in 2011, but when nominations for the second ACA show were announced this week, Carrie was on the list four times.
Billed as “the show for the next generation of country music fans” — after all, there are a heck of a lot of county music award shows out there — the ACAs will be broadcast at 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5 with Trace Adkins and Kristin Chenoweth as co-hosts.
Carrie isn’t the only American Idol nominated for honors either.
Kelly Clarkson’s smash duet with Jason Aldean, “Don’t You Want to Stay,” is up for single of the year and music video of the year in the vocal collaboration categories.
And new Idol Scotty McCreery has been nominated for the new artist award.
As for Carrie, she missed out on an overall Artist of the Year nomination. She is, after all, nearly two years removed from her last album. Those nominations went to Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney, Lady Antebellum, Taylor Swift and the Zac Brown Band.
She is nominated for Female Artist of the Year, single of the year female (“Mama’s Song”), music video female (“Mama’s Song” again) and touring headline package of the year.
A complete list of nominees in the categories in which Idols are nominated appears below.
