Idols on the Music Chart

Bright spots all over music charts for the Idols

Of course, the big news on the Billboard music charts this week was Scotty McCreery landing at number one on the Billboard 200.

It’s the first time an Idol has done that since way back in second two when Ruben Studdard’s debut album accomplished the feat.

But that’s hardly the only good news on the charts this week.

Check out the following:

* Kelly Clarkson’s lead single off her upcoming album (due Oct. 24) appears on no fewer than six charts. “Mr. Know it All” is up to number seven among adult pop songs, number 15 on the adult contemporary singles chart and moves from 30 to 27 on the Hot 100.

* Daughtry’s lead single off its upcoming album (due Nov. 21) appears on three charts. It debuts at number 41 on the Hot 100 and checks in at number 15 among adult pop songs.

* Mandisa’s second single off her new album has cracked the top 20 on the Christian singles chart for the first time. “Waiting for Tomorrow” moves up from 21 to 18 on that chart.

* Speaking of Kelly, her duet with Jason Alden (“Don’t You Want to Stay”) has taken up residence in the top 10 on the adult contemporary singles chart. It’s number five this week and has varied between three and five for at least six weeks now.

Here’s the complete look at Idols on the Billboard charts.
