Kimberly Caldwell has signed with Vanguard records and is apparently hoping to release an album by the end of the year.

Kimberly finished seventh on season two of Idol and has turned that bit of fame into a career as a TV host. She was also back in the news when she and David Cook started dating after his Idol triumph.

Musically, Kimberly has yet to release an album six years after her Idol appearance. She released a single, “Fear of Flying,” last year. You can hear the tune — it has a country flavor — on her MySpace page.

Vanguard bills itself as “the independent leader of distinctive records.” Its stable of artists includes the Indigo Girls and The Zozo Sisters (Linda Ronstadt and Ann Savoy).
