We’re about a week away from new music from a Season 10 American Idol favorite.
James Durbin, who finished fourth that season, will release a single called “Parachute” next Friday (Nov. 22).
He says it’s the 10th song he penned for his upcoming sophomore album “and, as soon as I finished it in the studio, I knew it had to be the first single.”
The album doesn’t have a name yet, but has a tentative release date of April 8, 2014. It will include 11 new songs.
More details might be coming on Sunday, Nov. 24, when James has promised us an exclusive video clip of “Parachute” and more during a 5 p.m. (EDT) appearance on the American Music Awards pre-show. The broadcast will be streamed live on James’ website.
Back in late October, James announced on Facebook that he had finished recording for the new album.
“Oh, my gosh,” he wrote. “I’m so ready for you all to hear what I’ve been putting my heart and soul into for the past year and a half. I am so proud of this record, what it stands for, and how much I’ve grown in the process.”
James’ first album, “Memories of a Beautiful Disaster,” was released in November 2011, cracked the top 10 on the Billboard rock chart and debuted at 36 on the Billboard 200. James wrote four of the tracks for that album.
