When American Idol’s top 11 held a press conference prior to their summer tour, Scotty McCreery joked that Paul McDonald was the show’s real winner.

I mean, Scotty had landed the recording contract.

But Paul had landed a fiance, lovely Nikki Reed of Twilight fame, a gal he met at the premiere of “Little Red Riding Hood” only because he’d made it to the finals on American Idol.

The day of the press conference, Paul took the joking from his Idol colleagues in stride.

“Try out for American Idol. Find your true love,” he added, smiling.

Well, on Sunday, Paul and Nikki were married, according to US Weekly. Here’s a link to the story.

Sorry, no wedding photos yet. Nor word on whether or not the other Idols were in attendance.

But Paul has also been working on new music. In fact, he tweeted Friday with a link to his soon-to-be new website.

That tweet also indicated that he’ll be releasing new material and merchandise with his pre-Idol band, The Grand Magnolias, sometime soon. And that he’s also working on a solo album.
